When it comes to entertainment technologies, would you rather take a simple step forward or a quantum leap into the future? Of course, you’d choose the latter. So when a core group of companies supporting Blu-ray Disc, including Sony, Pioneer, Philips, Fox Home Entertainment, Disney, Warner Brothers and Panasonic selected SicolaMartin to craft an advertising campaign promoting the technological advantages of its next-generation optical disc format for high-def entertainment, we couldn’t say “yes” fast enough.
Tasked with not only establishing recognition of the Blu-ray brand name as a “cool” brand, but also positioning it as a revolutionary, new technology (as opposed to the incremental technology of its main competitor, HD-DVD), we created a comprehensive TV, print and online campaign that launched in June 2006. By the summer of 2008, the battle was over. HD-DVD had called it quits, leaving Blu-ray Disc as the sole high-definition DVD format.
