Sleep Appnea

Written on February 10th, 2009 by Wood Chris

It all started about two months after Christmas. One night, I found myself tossing and turning—my head was spinning. Unsure if I was dreaming or awake, I couldn’t get away from it. All I could think about was my iPhone. In my head I was exploring apps that could help me find places to eat, when certain movies were playing, even search for the cleanest public restrooms in my area. I was sending tweets to people about great bike rides, interesting news I found, or how my 2-year old left a turd in my car. I was listening to free satellite radio, news radio, and even personalized radio in my car. I could check the weather, take a photo, look up the score, find an event, play a game, check email, surf the Web, read a book, translate a sentence into Spanish or German. I had endless amounts of information at my fingertips, and it was great! You could ask me anything and I could find it—I could find anything—I was unstoppable! When I finally woke up I knew had a problem, but at least I wasn’t afraid to admit it. Here it goes, “Hello, my name is Chris Wood and I’m addicted to my iPhone.” Whewww! I feel much better now.

WARNING! Here are the iPhone apps that top my lists:

Basics Apps:
Weather: Sometimes it’s just nice to know
Camera Bag: Apply several different filters to a picture you have already taken
Email/Web: Being connected 24/7 has its ups and downs

Music Apps:
Pandora: Personalized stations depending on your mood…awesome!
AOL Radio: Discover something new or listen to a specific genre
Stitcher: News radio ranging from NPR to celebrity gossip

Social Networking Apps:
Facebook: Stay in touch with your 1-1,000+ friends
Tweetie: Follow people, places or things you are interested in
Quip: Text your pictures to any phone

Entertainment Apps:
Yelp: Easy way to find, recommend and talk about what’s great
Eventful: Local events in your town or across the world
Urbanspoon: Stop arguing and use the magic 8 ball to decide

Game Apps:
PAC-MAN: Old school classic and my son’s favorite
MotionX Poker: If you like poker and Yahtzee®, this is a must
Enigmo: I love to solve problems and this game makes you use your brain

By the way, I’m sleeping much better now. Thank you App Store!
